LAHORE: LPG Distributors Association of Pakistan and Awami Rickshaw Union, while talking to media at the Liberty Roundabout on Wednesday, warned the police and district administration that they would surround the offices of district coordination officer (DCO) Lahore and deputy inspector general (DIG) in case their issues were not resoved.
Both the organisations would protest over the government’s negligence at Nasir Bagh today (Thursday). They would also hold a shutter down strike across the country.
A large number of people from both organisations participated in Wednesday’s campaign and chanted slogans against the responsible person.
LPG Distributors Association Pakistan Chariman Irfan Khokhar and Awami Rickshaw Union Chairman Majeed Ghori on the occasion said that police and district administration officials forcefully sealed their shops and took several goods into custody without any reason. They said that they tried to negotiate with the respective departments but their demands were repeatedly ignored by the government authorities.
“We have decided to take action against the high handedness of these departments, which sealed our shops llegally,” they said, adding that police and civil defence officials of district administration were asking for protection money from the LPG sellers, vowing that they would not take action against them.
They said that they would not tolerate the bulling of police and district officials.
